Certification Fees

NZMS™ publishes the standard New Zealand certification price so motel owners can understand the complete first-year commitment before proceeding. The standard package applies to one eligible single motel with annual motel-operation turnover below NZ$3 million. Non-standard applications are quoted individually.

First year — NZ$1,250 + GST

Application & initial assessment contribution
NZ$300 + GST
GST NZ$45.00 · NZ$345.00 total incl. GST
Payable after NZMS confirms the application is complete and accepted into the assessment pathway. It forms part of the first-year package and does not purchase certification by itself.
Annual certification programme
NZ$950 + GST
GST NZ$142.50 · NZ$1,092.50 total incl. GST
Invoiced before the initial evaluation is scheduled. Payment gives access to the defined assessment programme; certification remains dependent on meeting the NZMS™ standards and an authorised decision.
What the standard first-year programme includes
- Application and eligibility review, self-assessment and evidence review.
- One scheduled initial in-person site assessment within the standard scope.
- Assessment against the published NZMS™ criteria, written findings and an authorised certification decision.
- Where certification is achieved: the NZMS™ certificate, applicable certification level, public verification record, approved directory listing and authorised certification-mark use for the certification period.
Annual Renewal
NZ$950 + GST per annum
GST NZ$142.50 · NZ$1,092.50 total incl. GST
Renewal is normally evidence-based and may be completed remotely. NZMS™ may require an additional physical assessment where material changes, significant concerns or other certification risks justify further site verification.
Application & Initial Assessment Contribution
NZ$300 plus GST. Payable after NZMS confirms that a New Zealand application is complete and accepted into the assessment pathway. It contributes to administration, evidence review, assessment preparation and the first physical site assessment. It is part of the complete first-year programme, not the full price of certification in isolation.
Annual Certification Programme
NZ$950 plus GST for the standard New Zealand single-motel programme. This fee is invoiced before the initial evaluation is scheduled. Payment gives access to the defined assessment programme; it does not guarantee certification.
Annual Renewal
NZ$950 plus GST. Renewal normally includes an evidence-based annual review. NZMS may require an additional physical assessment where material operational changes, significant concerns or other certification risks justify it.
Higher-Turnover & Multi-Property Applications
Businesses with annual motel-operation turnover of NZ$3 million or more, multi-property groups and materially complex structures are quoted individually in writing before work proceeds.
Additional Assessment & Exceptional Travel
Additional physical reassessment, significant air or overnight travel, major scope changes and other non-standard work are separately quoted and agreed before the relevant cost is incurred.
Consulting & Improvement Support
Consulting, training, the Guest Confidence Review, membership and other NZMS services remain optional and separate from certification. Purchasing another NZMS service cannot influence the certification decision or level.
Pricing safeguards
- Certification is earned by meeting the NZMS™ standards. Payment does not guarantee certification.
- Any compulsory non-standard charge is disclosed and agreed before the relevant work proceeds.
- Previously accepted written quotations retain their agreed terms unless both parties expressly agree otherwise.
- NZMS™ Membership, the Guest Confidence Review and optional consulting or training are separate services and are never required to obtain a certification decision.
