Certification Fees
NZMS™ certification fees are structured to be fair and transparent. The following outline explains how fees are approached. Specific pricing is confirmed during the application process.
Application Fee
NZMS™ Certification Application Fee — NZ$295 + GST
A one-off base application fee of NZ$295 plus GST applies to each NZMS™ certification application.

What the fee covers
- Review of your application, submitted material and self-assessment responses
- Administration and confidential handling of your application
- A certification outcome with constructive feedback, regardless of result
What happens next
- Your application is acknowledged and enters NZMS™ review
- You will be notified of the outcome and any required next steps
- Approved motels receive an NZMS™ certificate and public verification URL
Refund & withdrawal conditions
- The application fee is non-refundable once review has commenced
- If you withdraw before review begins, contact NZMS™ to discuss your options
- If an application is declined, the fee is not refunded; you may reapply after addressing the feedback provided
Founding Motel Programme
Entry is by individual application. Any assessment scope, additional services and applicable fees are confirmed in writing before work proceeds.
Certification Fees
Certification fees are assessed according to property size, review requirements and assessment pathway. A tailored fee outline is provided following submission of your application.
Annual Renewal
Annual renewal applies to all certified motels to ensure standards are maintained over time.
Reassessment
Reassessment may attract an additional fee where a motel has not achieved certification on first review and wishes to reapply after improvement.
Consulting & Improvement Support
Consulting or improvement support may be offered separately where requested. This is not required for certification and is entirely optional.
