The Australian programme begins with a controlled five-motel founding pilot in Melbourne, Victoria.

The programme is operated and certificates are issued by New Zealand Motel Standards Limited, a New Zealand company.
Transparent New Zealand dollar pricing
The Melbourne standard first-year certification programme is NZ$1,250 plus GST: NZ$300 plus GST for the application and initial-assessment contribution and NZ$950 plus GST for the annual certification programme. Standard annual renewal is NZ$950 plus GST. Fees are invoiced in NZD by New Zealand Motel Standards Limited.

Applications are reviewed individually. A place in the pilot does not guarantee certification; every certification decision requires evidence, assessment and formal approval.
Melbourne standard certification programme
NZ$1,250 + GST first year
NZ$1,437.50 total incl. GST
NZ$300 + GST application and initial-assessment contribution, plus NZ$950 + GST annual certification programme. Standard annual renewal is NZ$950 + GST (NZ$1,092.50 incl. GST). Charged in New Zealand dollars by New Zealand Motel Standards Limited. Payment does not guarantee certification.
